Today is Day 3 of 365-DHW. Was a pretty busy day with lots of kid stuff. High point of the day was my morning walk and spending some quality time with my kiddos. Low point was when a mosquito bit me on the forehead three times while I was sitting in my house holding my baby. I’ll spare you the visual, but it basically looks like someone threw rocks at my head.
I also realized I have been breaking up my goals into the three sections I believe are the critical components of quality of life: nutrition, exercise, and mental well-being. So, what you put in to your body, what you do with your body, and how you calm and take care of your mind. I will therefore now be naming my goals accordingly.
5 months post-chemo, short and dark
Nutrition: Mindful dessert – aka no stuffing my face because I’m tired and relaxed and not being mindful about what I am doing.
Exercise: Walk longer than I did yesterday (2.5 miles).
Mental: Do a deep breathing exercise for 2 minutes to relax and refocus.
Nutrition: Haven’t had dessert yet but I’ve got this one in the bag.
Exercise: Crushed it! 3 mile walk and I could have done more!!
Mental: I did this as soon as my kids were in bed and I could get a quiet second. It was almost as relaxing as a glass of wine. Almost.
