365 Days of Health and Wellness

As you may know if you read my last post, I was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer (while pregnant) in the fall of 2017. The cancer spread to my bones and actually destroyed two vertebrae while weakening the rest of my spine. Since I had loss the use of my legs prior to the surgery, doctors weren’t even sure if I would be able to walk again. But if you know me, you know I am insanely competitive. I mean, annoyingly competitive. I literally have a cat because the adoption agency told me two other people were interested in buying him if I didn’t. So when the doctors said they weren’t sure if I would be able to walk again, all I heard was, “CHALLENGE CHALLENGE CHALLENGE!” Well, challenge accepted.

October 30, 2017 – My first chemotherapy treatment, 16 days after my spinal fusion, while 6 months pregnant

I have been working very hard these past nine months to not only keep my cancer at bay (modern medicine is simply miraculous), but also try to return to my “normal” life as a stay-at-home mom of two kids (currently 2.5 years old and 8 months old), a photography shop owner (Art Forever Moore), and a health and wellness expert. Luckily because of that last part, I have been able to safely and expertly try to regain my strength and function with the help of physical therapy. And today, I am doing very well, though I know I still have a long way to go.

Now normally, I am a pretty private person. I prefer to keep my goals and my life to myself as much as possible. But, this past year has completely changed not only my life but the lives of everyone around me. And if I am impacting others, I want to make sure that it is a positive impact. Therefore, I have decided to open the door to my personal journey for the next 365 days in the hope that my posts and story may help motivate, inspire, support, or even just entertain others. So, every day, starting today, for the next 365 days, I will post here on Hello, Confidence! Posts will include a selfie and updates on daily goals, workouts, healthy recipe finds, etc. And please make sure to follow me on Instagram so you see even more pictures and videos about my able, confident, happy journey.
